Bed Former

Bed Former

After injuring his shoulder over the weekend Pete is going to be out of action for the next few weeks. But the heavens have sent us something of a replacement in Lach! Thankfully Lach is in his off-season from his regular gig as a fire fighter and his first task on the farm has been to help build a bed former.
Pete has spent a lot of time online looking at different types and how to make them so came into the project with a lot of idea. Much discussion resulted in the design of a prototype and building involved fossicking around the yard they had all materials they needed except the bolts. Bring on another building project!
The bed former V.1 is essentially a heavy wooden ‘v’ shape that attaches to the back of the rotary hoe and forms a raised bed. As you can see from the pictures it won’t win a beauty prize but it will do the job this year and will be under constant refinement until we have a design that we can build out of steel.
